Description
15’4” Cruising Boat Plans – Compact Comfort, Easy Build & Big Potential
The 15’4” Cruising Boat builds on the charm of the 14’ version. However, with an extra 1’4” of hull length, she offers much more comfort and usability. As a result, there is now space for two berths, a small galley area, and a curtained side compartment for a portable WC. This makes her a true mini-cruiser—perfect for weekend sailing and exploring.
Unlike the 14’ design with fixed bilge keels, this version includes a centreplate with an external pivot. Because of this, the interior stays open and uncluttered, giving you more room to move and relax. In addition, the plans provide an alternative long, deeper keel option if you prefer a fixed ballast keel instead.
Construction is straightforward and beginner-friendly. First, a plywood framework forms the backbone with a fore-and-aft girder, bulkheads, and transom. Next, the hull panels fit over this structure. Finally, the chines are finished with epoxy for strength and durability—although solid wood chines can also be used.
Thanks to her graceful lines, simple build, and excellent cruising potential, the 15’4” Cruising Boat is a rewarding project for any home boatbuilder. Moreover, she delivers big adventure in a compact and manageable size.
